Sound Reduction & Vibration Isolation

Sound Reduction & Vibration Isolation

The products in our Sound Reduction and Vibration Isolation line are specifically designed to be used with our roof curb and equipment support products to reduce both sound and vibration generated by rooftop equipment.

Get complete details on our Pate Sound Shield (PSS), Pate Sound Curb (PSC) and Pate Vibration Isolation Rails (PVIR) – along with data sheets and submittals – below.

Pate Sound Curb (PSC)
The Pate Sound Curb is an in-curb sound reduction treatment that was engineered to reduce noise generated by small supply and exhaust fans. The PSC uses in-curb acoustical baffles to reduce airborne pressure pulses (unwanted noise). The baffles have a high specific gravity, allowing for maximum absorption of sound waves.

  • Performance testing, using the ASTM E90-09 test procedure, demonstrated a sound rating of STC11
  • Sound reduction of up to 18 dB was achieved in specific frequency ranges
  • 1″ thick accoustic barrier is both fire and water resistant

Pate Sound Shield (PSS)
The Pate Sound Shield is an acoustic treatment that reduces radiated sound through roof-mounted equipment curbs. The treatment reduces noise radiated into an occupied space by all sources within rooftop units, including supply and exhaust fans, compressors, and condenser fans. The PSS is comprised of an industry-leading batten layer (with an R-value of 8.0) and a flexible acoustic barrier, which can be applied inside a variety of Pate curbs – including plenum and non-plenum curbs – and can be installed at the Pate factory or by contractors in the field.

  • Sound reduction from 10 – 75 dB
  • Ratings from STC27 STC58
  • Thermally efficient insulation (R-value of 8)
  • Fire and water resistant
  • Acoustical tape replaces the need for caulking
  • Fast, easy installation

Pate Vibration Isolation Rails (PVIR)
The Pate Vibration Isolation Rails (PVIR) system is designed to significantly reduce the mechanical vibration transmitted to the building structure from HVAC equipment mounted to roof curbs or equipment supports. Along with reducing the vibration from the equipment, the PVIR also acts as a seismic and wind restraint to keep the equipment attached to the curb or supports, and ultimately to the building structure.

  • Shipped with springs and restraints in place, no onsite assembly
  • Quickly attaches to the roof curb or equipment supports, requiring only basic tools and minimal time
  • Factory attachment to new Pate curbs or supports is available, further reducing install time
  • High strength aluminum alloy
  • Patented system
  • Short lead times
